Since the very beginning, VPA systems has invested in the VidCAD® software suite specialized in engineering for the broadcast and audio-visual industry, allowing the production of detailed drawings in native AutoCAD® DWG format.

Efficient and correct building of broadcast installations require accurate and comprehensive lists of equipment, cables, connectors and cable labels. The VidCAD® software suite gives full automatic control of these lists during the engineering process.

The software controls the logic of the installation drawings according to pre-established rules. As an example, it automatically prevent the double use of a cable number, the drawing of cables without connectors, or the linking of audio outputs to video inputs.

VidCAD® also manages 3D representations of individual racks, operation desks, play out stations or any technical room in a typical broadcast facility.

Key Functionality

The result of our extensive experience with the VidCAD® Software Suite allows us to provide the following key functionality  to our customers:

      - Without going through the time-consuming initial “draft” block diagrams or concept drawings, swiftly produce
         complete set of drawings and different listings for new installation with a potential time gain of 50%.

      - Update existing drawings as an ongoing process during the project execution.

      - Produce “as-built” drawings with no delay at project closure.

Furthermore, VidCAD® built-in remote access functionality allows customer’s technical staff to monitor project progress. This sharing feature enhances communication between parties by providing the following:

      - On-line and real-time monitoring of drawing/project progress in read-only mode.

      - Secured access to drawings through login provided by VPA Systems, allowing comments, change requests and       edits to be analyzed and processed by VPA’s project team.

Combining the qualities and advantages of working with AutoCAD®, BricsCAD® or Visio and Microsoft SQL®, VidCAD presently develops a powerful software suite for the expanding market of “Building Information Modeling” (BIM).

As a high-tech tool in the field of design and documentation of broadcast, audio, audio-visual, communications, and control systems, it will automate a maximum of aspects of the BIM process for the greatest benefit of engineers in the broadcast and communications sectors.
